Deleting isn't wiping
When you delete files, empty the bin or do a quick reset, most of the data stays on the drive until something writes over it. Free recovery software can bring a surprising amount of it back.
Under UK GDPR, that data is still your responsibility, including after the laptop has left your office for a recycler, a charity or a buyer on eBay.
An old laptop isn't just old hardware. It's a copy of your client files that nobody is looking after.
- Client and patient recordsdocuments, spreadsheets, scans
- Saved passwordsbrowsers, banking, HMRC, cloud apps
- Years of emailoffline copies kept by Outlook
- ID documentspassports and utility bills from checks

How an on-site wipe works
One visit, no paperwork for you to chase, and nothing leaves the building.
-
Tell us what you have
Send a rough count of laptops, desktops and drives, and where you are. We confirm a fixed price before we come out.
-
We wipe at your premises
Each device boots from our own erasure tool. The drive is erased with the right method for its type, then read back to check nothing is left.
-
You get the proof
Every drive gets its own certificate: make, model, serial number, method, result and date. Keep them with your GDPR records.

Built for small offices with sensitive data
Big disposal firms are set up for corporate contracts and lorry-loads of equipment. If you have five laptops and a box of old drives, you're usually not worth their while.
We're set up for exactly that job, and we'll treat your three laptops with the same care as a hundred.

Why on-site beats collection
The riskiest part of data disposal is the journey. On-site wiping removes it.
| Question | TrustWipe on-site | Typical collection service |
|---|---|---|
| Do devices leave your building with data on them? | No | Yes, until they're processed |
| Can you see the wipe happen? | Yes | Rarely |
| Proof you get | A certificate per drive, on the day | Often a batch certificate, weeks later |
| Smallest job | One laptop | Often a minimum load |
| Can the kit be reused afterwards? | Yes | Often shredded |
Who does the work
TrustWipe is run by Soufiane Taoufik, a cyber security analyst with a BEng (Hons) in Cybersecurity and Forensics from Edinburgh Napier University and a background in security operations.
Forensics is the study of recovering data people thought was gone. That's exactly why every drive is wiped properly, checked afterwards and recorded.
Common questions
Do you take our devices away?
No. Everything is wiped at your premises and stays there the whole time. You can watch if you like. Nothing goes in a van, and there's no warehouse your data passes through.
How long does a visit take?
Most SSD laptops take a few minutes each, because modern drives have a built-in secure erase that we trigger and then check. Older spinning hard drives are slower, as every sector has to be overwritten, which can take an hour or more for a large drive. We wipe several devices at once and plan the visit so we're not in your way.
Can the laptops be used again afterwards?
Yes. A wiped laptop has no operating system on it, so it's ready for a fresh install. You can reuse it, donate it, or sell it. If you'd like, we'll make you an offer for working devices after the wipe.
Does wiping work on SSDs?
Yes, but it has to be done differently. Overwriting an SSD the old-fashioned way doesn't reliably reach every memory cell. We use the drive's own sanitize or secure erase command, which NIST SP 800-88 classes as a Purge method, then verify the result.
