A cyber security analyst, wiping your drives
TrustWipe gives small businesses in Edinburgh and the Lothians the kind of careful data disposal that large organisations take for granted.
Who I am
I'm Soufiane, and I live and work in Dalkeith. My background is in cyber security: I studied cybersecurity and digital forensics at Edinburgh Napier University and have worked in security operations, watching for and investigating attacks on business systems.
- BEng (Hons) Cybersecurity and Forensics, Edinburgh Napier University
- HND Networking, Edinburgh College
- Background in security operations and security monitoring
Why forensics matters here
Part of a forensics degree is learning to recover data people thought they had deleted. It's easier than most people expect. Deleted files, reset laptops and formatted drives regularly give up their contents.
That's why I set up TrustWipe. Small businesses deserve a proper wipe and a proper record, without needing a corporate contract.
How we work
- Methods follow NIST SP 800-88, the widely used guideline for media sanitisation: Clear for traditional hard drives, Purge for SSDs and NVMe drives using the drive's own sanitize or secure erase command.
- Every drive is checked after erasing. A drive is only certified if verification passes.
- Each certificate records the device, drive serial number, method, verification result, date and who carried out the wipe.
- Devices stay on your premises the whole time.
- Drives that can't be wiped are never marked as wiped. They're listed separately and destroyed through a licensed partner.
What we're honest about
TrustWipe is a small local business. We don't yet hold ADISA certification, which some large organisations require for tenders. If that's a requirement for you, we'll say so and point you to a provider who has it.
Got a cupboard of old laptops?
Most offices do. Tell us roughly how many and where you are, and we'll give you a fixed price today.
